Snoop Dogg, the great rapper and marijuana buff in recent times, made unexpected words of attack on ‘old bigot’ Mr Donald Trump, the former president of the United States. Snoop Dogg told The Sunday Times of London this past week that the only thing he has towards Trump is love and respect, as he said the latter “has only had great things” for him.
In cliché, Snoop Dogg is quite impressed with Trump because of the pardon of Michael Harris, a co-founder of Death Row Records, the label that catapulted Snoop Dogg’s career in the early 1990s. Wayne Harris was convicted for drug trafficking as well as attempted murder in 1993, and he was given a 25-year imprisonment term but was released in January 2021 after receiving a granted mercy from Trump.
Snoop Dogg thanked Trump for freeing his friend and mentor, who he called ‘a community of hip-hop pillars’ Snoop Dogg was also grateful to Trump that Harris could see his children and start a new life.
This stands in contrast to Snoop Dogg, who had the opposite towards Trump, denouncing him during his presidency. Snoop Dogg was among the myriads of celebs who Opposed Trump and the Manuelity of his policies and even went to the extent of joking about moving to Canada after his 2016 win.
However, Snoop Dogg also made news in 2017 when he released a video for his Lavender song that featured a Trump lookalike who had been dubbed Ronald Klump, who was gravely wounded with a replica gun. One year later, Snoop Dogg released an EP, Make America Crip Again. The cover art depicted a corpse that had a toe tag stating Trump.
Among Snoop Dogg’s fans and critics, many have found it forked up that he could flip his switch, especially given that he had shown hostility towards Trump before. Other people call him a hypocrite, opportunist or brainwashed. He has been supported in his end wards by others who state that this right also applies to him, adding that he is mature and forgiving.
Snoop Dogg has nonetheless made a mysterious statement that has caused a stir throughout the public and media. It is yet to be seen whether he will retain his positive perception of Trump or return to the old perspective.
